late registration

without comments

Well, long vacation home with mobile internet that fights against https/password sending, so no update, but it was very nice and relaxing.

The mobile/office collection is finished: Nokia 6120 (Vodafone), Nokia 6300 (Orange), HP RX 1950 (Palm), Panasonic Lumix FZ8K (excellent) and my classic laptop, Marvin. A friend and family member, but he will be changed this year to a nice little Mac or a 12.1 Dell/Vaio. But he will still be a family member – back home, doing office duties. For the latest acquisition (6120) I am really grateful to Jancsi and his O2 Flat-rate. It is complete!

Plagiarism: still a thing that generates the “I didn’t know that I shouldn’t do it” student response. Well, you shouldn’t fucking do it!

Participation increased in the participation research project proposal and Sunday mornings in the city at a coffee has their own charm. It is really good.

Still much work to come, administrative stuff. But for the future, everything. To turn a hobby into a job, man must die first!

But: Audiofly@Midi again and Steve Lawler@Midi as well! Soon!

Two lyrics that I remember:

Miss Kittin-Frank Sinatra: ” Everynight with my star friends/ We eat caviar and drink champage/ Sniffing in the VIP area/ We talk about Frank Sinatra../ “You know Frank Sinatra?”/ He’s dead!/ HAHAHAHAHA!/ dead.” (sometimes friend-gangs work like this. Complete and obscene version HERE)

Romanthony-Never Fuck: “We are night vision/ and we are the fuel/that burnt the night time fire/ so while you sleep/ getting ready for your 9 to 5/ we are deep in the night/ to make sure what we do here/ controls what you do there/ and after all this work/ he deserves his pussy/ she deserves his dick/ he deserves his dick and/ she deserves her pussy/ and tonight: we gonna fuck!…” (complete version, SEARCH)

These songs open the Vitalic vs. Laurent Garnier&Miss Kittin live techno (hard techno with rush) mix.

A classic Vitalic for those who don’t know him:

And a video that is much better in the Tiga remix:

“Everything is about sharing” – Sergiu Biris

without comments

The last seminar of this year (not semester) was a bit special. An ex-colleague who had the best option and started his own business that became a business portfolio in seven years, was the special guest speaker on various online topics.

blog_1.jpg

I’ve enjoyed it very much, hope the regular 67 students (attendance at courses) was interested and became wiser after this seminar. Question were which means at least questioning became absolutely normal. Not science, but normal behavior.

blog_2.jpg

So, hereby a BIG THANKS for the excellent presentation to Sergiu Biris. Hope the portfolio (Trilulilu, WebDesign 2.0, Liverail) gets bigger and we’ll meet at another special seminar (ok ok, maybe not. but because of me wanting to leave). And don’t forget: “Everything is about sharing”. So I’ll share!

Zee.

P.S: Few and shitty pics, because I forgot to take pictures, coz the presentation was cooler.

prechristmas waste

without comments

Yeap, I was really busy last 2 weeks. Unfortunately I had to prepare the last seminars, to finish the conference paper and to do my debut in the journalistic world. Not just online. And the classics: Christmas gifts. Although I was really patient there were some problems, but finally I finished the acquisitions and everything went well.

So on Saturday I looked like this:

img_6964.jpg

The punk in me was sleeping together with a little flu. You may observe some similarities between me and the performance of the Romanian handball team, but that’s it. 20-30 is rough, but they were wasted as well.

On Liberalism.ro appeared one of my articles and a presidential speech analysis of mine went online and paper as well. Still waiting for the feed-back.

Lately, Springfield opened here as well, so we went shopping with nice buttons. And the first Wien presents arrived, together with Bogdan Teodorescu’s new book. I had to pick up the book from the Grigorescu post office. So 80’s! A huge and gray building with two employees (front-office). Pathetic and useless, but I’ve got the book.

img_6990.jpg

A little reindeer sat his black ass for 4 month on some banana flavored chocolate, so after a bit of sniffing, I realized what stinks near me. He was reading Foreign Policy, publication of the Adevarul Trust. It is interesting, but has severe problems in content cohesion, but I found a nice article about the real oil problem, very similar to the one I am translating now (M.A. Adelman). So, it is a worth buying publication (7,9 RON), but the Romanian part (Plesu, Dancu, Razvan-Ungureanu, Petre Roman) is still the “book-chapter type”. But The One magazine really sucks, coz I don’t know these domestic superstars and there are stupid ads in it. What can you do? Hate UPC.

Spring 2008, Fashion Outlook

with one comment

When you don’t go to party on a Saturday night, obviously this happens. Using the classics, men.style.com, I’ve checked out the Spring 2008 Collections. It wasn’t easy, because Mr Henry wanted to sell me a Braun shaving machine on my 10th click, and Mr. Grueber was doing a nice set on the radio, but I tried to focus.

Some remarks: my taste did not change. But… Interestingly I found a greater connection to the Marc Jacobs collection than in the past. Louis Vuitton becomes a bit boring, but considering my cycling experience, the shoes are for me! Mr Marco Madeira had a terrible position on the Valentino show, all the photos are “right wing”, but it’s not a loss. Actually, the Jean Paul Gaultier collection had 2 items that made me think that sometimes I will understand/like him. Till then, the hate remains. Oh, and the Burberry Prorsum is so not mine that I’ve checked out the Braun add.

So, some things that I liked:

Roberto Cavalli:

cavalli-1.jpg

Ralph Lauren:

rl-1.jpg

rl-2.jpg

rl-3.jpg

Calvin Klein:

ck-1.jpg

DKNY:

dkny-1.jpg

Givenchy:

givenchy-1.jpg

Marc Jacobs:

mj-1.jpg

mj-2.jpg

Moschino:

mosc-1.jpg

But I must copy-paste here the text: “You can’t put your arms around a memory, but Franco Moschino’s torchbearers are doing their best. The late designer’s iconoclastic inclinations have been logo-fied: Here, his once-ironic peace sign showed up as a zesty fluorescent orange detail on denim”.

All of them are like this. I could kill these people. And the make-up artists do the same.

Off Topic: Header change, to support something! And 2 articles of mine (ok ok, collective, were published last week). So, Sin City!

fresh, but disobedient

without comments

Exit polls came out, the biggest surprise: PRM, Jiji.

The communicated election presence is sad, but everybody knew it. UDMR and Tokes did the most that was possible. Or the impossible. The mass mobilization of the Hungarian voters did this. A massive presence killed the statistics, so everything seems OK.

PD+PLD did what I meant for PD in the previous post. PNL did well and the rural voters came out in a bigger number, so PSD did better than expected.

Later updates and comments will come, but analysis is more important.

As for the referendum. Nothing new, it was clear.

Hereby I will publish an action of protest of mine. It is against the question, against all that did not happen and against all the political capital that was generated by this question. It is a plagiarism. Deo has this project: showing the finger to the biggest baroque buildings. This question was  a baroque institution. So, here we go (sorry for the quality, but it wasn’t easy):

uninominal.jpg

P.S.: Vadim down. I am waiting for Voiculescu (not even close to 7%) and Jiji. Please please please.

club midi, review

without comments

I am mentioning the review style because of the very OK spirit that I had during the first party in Club Midi (yesterday). Although, I won’t respect the rules of this kind of discourse.

The club is near the Ursus factory, it is a bigger one and definitely upper-middle to premium positioned club. First, the advertising remarks: blogs, electro fans and the Outwear Coffee and Clothing. This cross promotion goes that far that the party entrance (fee 15 RON before 12 pm and 30 after, no consumption included) bracelets are Outwear labeled. Of course, Peroni is present as well, all the T-shirts and even the checkroom card is Peroni branded.

It is full of security, but they seem to be the normal ones. Not Harvard graduates with PhD in social behavior or social psychology, but still. And one guy had Everlast T-shirt. Yes yes, the boxing brand. Nice touch. So, it is a safe place with a horde of waitresses and barmen who do a good job. Fast cleaning (scary bussers), napkin for your drink, ice without asking and average (upper-middle or premium) prices. Of course, only 0.33 beers are available, but common, minimal party, minimalistic design and minimalistic drinks.

midi-1.jpg

(Photos: Aida Ilie)

So, the design: minimalistic, hard shapes, nice white. Full with visual effects, led and several projectors. The video projections follow the music and the mood, but after a while they repeat. But, if you can observe that they are repeated you aren’t enjoying the party, so go home and screw you! The interestingly placed lights are helping the mood creation process and they work well.

midi-2.jpg

Sound quality: exceptional. It moves your nose, hair and tummy, but you can talk and the sound is really clear. So, no wonder why they advertised the club based on the sound system that could be compared to Amnesia or Cocoon (experts know these places). The music was minimal tech or elector minimal with RPR, aka Rhadoo, Pedro and Reresh. All this happened in the mainroom. Backroom closed, but if you want to hang out there, get a couple of friends and they open it for you. And close it, if you need privacy. They put music together, I think following the next principle: I start and let us see what you can do with this. The collective effort was very good.

midi-3.jpg

Design again: I like constructions. Ideas that are closed. Ideas that are reflected even in the smallest detail. And the bathroom is the concluding act of a club’s design strategy. A ++ for this bathroom. Aluminum, mirrors and central sprinklers from the ceiling. 5-6 sprinklers to wash your hand, foam soap and instant cleaning. Reflexive and self healing.

And now, the crucial point: GUESTS.

Well, hmmmm….To “fitze” or no to “fitze”. An excellent Romanian term for show-off. Yes, here are people with “fitze”. But they leave at 2 am or get sufficiently drunk till that hour in order to feel good. Who stays, stays for the music. It is not disturbing, but is a fact. We all know that the people who like this music are not always the richest, so no exclusive club will rise tomorrow. But the dialogues heard outside were hilarious, so thank you for the 18000 W. Jesus, I thought if you like something, you are interested in it, so maybe you read something more in your life than Libertatea. But these individuals are pretty unfamiliar with thinking, behaving, formulating sentences or reading. Sickooo! As a friend told me, the owners have a daddy, who owns the only Mclaren Mercedes in Cluj. So, it is not surprising. The club is opened only on Fridays and Saturdays. God knows how much longer will it survive, considering the 500000 EUR investment.

midi-6.jpg

(via Radu)

Air condition works well and the standing ashtrays are really useful for smokers.

Conclusion: like it, like it. Mostly for the music and feeling. Not for the people. But we can live with it, don’t we! I recommend the place for electro lovers or Benz owners. Was the first time, but definitely not the last. Oscar has competition. But there is the house party feeling.

P.S.: pictures and video not from the party I’ve attended. From the opening party. No official site yet.

tom novy 1

without comments

There are two types of DJs: the one that puts music that you don’t know, it’s interesting and good, and the one who puts classical remixes. Tom Novy is the second one. Nothing special, nothing extraordinary. But it works like hell. It’s a show, nothing else. He looks like the traditional ATB style german DJ that is an ass, wants special drinks, limo and attends regular fitness meetings. But he does know something extremely well: the party.

11.jpg

Extremely good performance and not just because of the huntermaster that killed the bears (Jaegermeister and Ursus, for other cultural context).

Good sound, light-show, video and performance. Not just music. It is good to see that a community works well here; as in the Trance Energy sessions, there was the loading part. Here: Kubrick theme. Fire and Eyes wide shut and 2001: A Space Odyssey motion picture score for introducing the man, who knew what to do, when and with what.

But the house/mininal approach from V Barbulescu was a convincing opening act.

Just big ups!

Own pictures, videos and recorded stuff later, coz motorola still sucks! But a brief little teaser to feature Sergiu’s project can be found here.

too sventastic

without comments

POLITICS: nothing new, referendum. It is an excellent way to fuck up a basically good thing, but in order to be there and campaign for the Democratic Party everything is cool. But now, it is official. I wonder how many common topics there will be? None, of course.

FOOTBALL: yeah right, beating Sevilla. Right right. And maybe Arsenal, at home. Which Arsenal? The one that beat the crap out of Praga (7-0). Hahahaahaaaaaa, as Mr JIJI would say.

F1: Raikonnen rules, Mclaren sucks balls!

Extra: two little tubes, where the electro genius is “clean” cut, no drugs, no drinking, no making out with men (Richie Hawtin, who is bf of Dj Magda, and Sven has wife, children [or as Bush would say, childrens] and mushrooms). But still, the music is music! And this one could not be embedded!

P.S. maybe some find some resemblance with the inner circle. Ouu Ouu Ouu.

consumers alert – rotten mall!

without comments

I just wanted milk and coke. But what I saw was more. And I did not get any milk. Everything what is needed is sold out at 8 pm. But 54 cm TV at 200 RON it’s a must for everyone. Although you have 6 at home, you need one right now.

We went on the 3rd day of grand opening, Sunday evening, to the Mall, the Polus Center. The Biggest! For 3 days because a bigger one opens in Ukraine. And Iulius Mall will be the second biggest, here in Cluj. All of these people have extreme wealth and consolidated consumer habits. NOT.

Every mall species was there, in a huge parking place and near the fountain.

We desperately needed one mall, or two, or seven. With famous brands at huge prices, with no sales and no special offers and with KFC. A kinda before 89 feeling in front of the KFC, where people kill, to get some globalization to go. Because there are no free places in the dining corner. Fancy caffes, this “let’s sit in the window” style is appreciated. But who cares, where do you sit in a mall that is not even in the down-town of the city.

A Japanese something called Geisha. If something is not Geisha, Harakiri (not Husserl Harakiri), Samurai, Bonsai or Tokyo it is not Japanese. To name a Japanese anything Geisha, means nothing else that the food fucks you, stylish.

“Eiii, Tony…The respesct, you know. The family, Tony” Gangster style gangster. Plazaboys and Girls, so nothing new. Kenvelo, Leonardo, give’em to the poor! Zara, New Yorker closed and 60% of the shops is unknown for me.

Carrefour, Domo and MediaGalaxy as huge as districts in Cluj. And people tend to use their shopping trolley in the shops with 1000 EUR watches, because they think it’s Metro or Selgros.

Why, I continuously ask myself, WHY a mall or two here? To be even worse here? To give a huge place to uneducated, low income butwannaspendthemallrightnow people? And for us bigger prices for normal brands and shout out: here, you have what you need! Well, no thank you!
